The Scottish Leisure Network Group was formed by Bobby Kerr of West Dunbartonshire Council in October 2003.
Bobby saw a need to improve how West Dunbartonshire Council’s Leisure Services benchmarked with other leisure providers in local authorities around the country.
He contacted a number of Leisure Services around Scotland to ask how they benchmarked and shared best practice. He wasn’t surprised to learn that those he contacted felt exactly the same as he did and it was apparent very little benchmarking was taking place and there was certainly very little meaningful co-operation between leisure providers. Bobby proposed that a meeting be arranged for the 20 October 2003 at the Bell Centre in Perth with representatives from West Dunbartonshire, Perth & Kinross, East Lothian, South Lanarkshire, Angus and Fife in attendance.
