We operate an “Employee of the Month” scheme in the Galleon Centre. It is a simple process where staff and customers can nominate a member of staff whom they feel has gone above and beyond normal expectations to assist someone or has generally just provided consistent, outstanding service. In addition, staff can submit suggestions on how we can improve our service, improve procedures or introduce something new which will either save us money or make money.
Senior Managers meet to discuss suggestions and nominations on a monthly basis and a winner or winners are chosen. The winner receives a payment of £50 and occasionally a meal for two in a local restaurant (if we have a partnership going with that restaurant at the time)
At the end of the year an overall winner is chosen from the monthly winners and they are given a £100 payment and awarded Employee of the Year.
The system does work well but could always be improved.
