Invitation: Climate Change and Sport in Scotland Driving Action Together

Sportscotland invites you to ‘Climate Change and Sport in Scotland’, arranged as part of a programme of events during the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer. The event aims to explore the relationship between climate change and sport, and the role that sports organisations, communities and policymakers can play in tackling the climate emergency.

Sport has a unique ability to inspire, engage and bring people together. As the impacts of climate change increasingly affect sporting activities, facilities and communities, there is a growing opportunity for the sector to lead by example and help drive positive environmental action. The event will bring together representatives from the sport sector, climate experts, policymakers and leisure trusts to discuss: • The impacts of climate change on sport and recreation • How sports organisations are reducing emissions and increasing resilience • Opportunities to engage fans and communities in climate action • Examples of innovation and best practice from across the sector Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from expert speakers and network with others who are committed to creating a more sustainable future through sport.
